Château d’Ussé

The chateau d'Ussé, built in the 15th century for its late medieval part, and at the end of the 17th century for its classical elements, is the castle of Sleeping Beauty.

We cannot be completely certain that it is here that the princess has fallen asleep for a hundred years. But it was this castle that welcomed Perrault just before he wrote this popular tale, and which, it is said, inspired the writer.
